Economy of Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan possesses very rich natural resources, including the richest resources of oil and gas centralised in the Caspian Sea and Absheron peninsula; owing to this fact, Azerbaijan can be considered one of the largest oil producing countries of the world
Azerbaijan carries out trade operations with 130 countries. Among the trade partners of the Azerbaijan Republic are Italy, Russia, Great Britain, Turkey, Israel, Kazakhstan, Germany, Georgia, Iran, Ukraine, China, Netherlands, USA, etc.
According to the forecast of the Ministry of Economic Development, Azerbaijan's GDP is expected to grow 30% in 2006 and 31.3% in 2007
Automative Industry
Two large automotive plants in Gandja and Shamahi were launched in Azerbaijan in the past two years in the framework of the “State program for social-economic development of the regions”
According to the data for March 1 of the current year, the number of automobiles in the country increased by 30.8% as compared to the figure recorded for January 1, 2005 and reached 676,100. This is a record-breaking growth in the entire history of the country's development
14.8% of all motor transport facilities are passenger buses; 78.3% are passenger cars, with 75% made up by private passenger cars
84.9% or 574 thousands of all automobiles are owned by the citizens and 513.8 thousands are private passenger cars
On average, 85 of every 1000 citizens own automobiles
At the present time, the State Customs Committee with participation of specialists from appropriate ministries is drafting a special decree to ban the import of automobiles which have been in use for more than 4 years if produced in CIS countries and for more than 7 years if produced in other countries

AutoShow Azerbaijan is the largest international automotive exhibition in South Caucasus and the most popular automotive event among the population. Every year the exhibition is attended by over 20 000 specialists and car owners
