The population of Kazakhstan is over 15.3 million.
According to the Government and the National Bank, the per capita GDP in 2006 was almost $ 7,000. The real per capita GDP growth in 2006 was 10.6%, with the “per capita GDP” index equalling $ 5,083. In 2006, the direct investment amount in Kazakhstan grew 1.4 times. In January-April 2007, the industrial output volume index was 109.5% to January-April 2006.
According to the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the national fleet of motor vehicles numbers about 2,267,000 vehicles, of which 80.7% are passenger cars, 15.4% trucks, and 3.9% buses. The current fleet of motor vehicles in Kazakhstan is characterised by a high extent of wear: the share of motor vehicles used for more than 12 years is as follows: passenger cars – 67.2%, trucks and special vehicles – 83.9%, and buses – 56.6%.
The Euro international environmental standards for motor transport in Kazakhstan are to be introduced by 2011, reported the Press Service of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
Import of cars Kazakhstan has in money terms increased more than twice in comparison with 2005, having made from above 2 billion dollars. In republic has been put nearby 400 thousand machines. On it have informed in Committee of the customs control of the Ministry of Finance of Republic Kazakhstan. Basically cars drive from Japan - 180 081, Germany - 172 406, Russia - 18 022. Kazakhstan 's market of new cars is going through its steady development stage. According to some analysts, the annual growth in sales is 45% on average.
Astana
As of 1 March 2007 , the population of Astana is 577,300.
In January-March 2007, the industrial output volume was $ 4 billion in current prices. The industrial output volume index was 124.7% to January-March 2006. As of 1 April 2007 , Astana has 22,181 registered economic entities (legal entities), 14,255 of which were functioning. There are 13,577 small enterprises of all functioning legal entities.
The investment potential of Astana is growing every year. In 2006, more than $ 70.8 billion was invested in the city development and construction. In 2007, the city akimat plans to draw more than $ 83.3 billion in the city's economy. The industrial output will increase up to $ 19 billion.
Notably, Astana holds leading positions in attracting investment in the country (with a share of over 12%). Positively, the national capital has within a short period of time become a city profitable for Kazakhstan and foreign investors to make investments in its development.
The Astana City Akimat and the Centre of Industrial and Innovative Development of Astana signed a memorandum of cooperation with ONGLORY INVESTMENTS LIMITED and Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile Co. This agreement provides for “construction of a production complex to make Nissan cars within the Astana City Industrial Park Special Economic Zone as an integral part of the international motor corporation”, reported a press release issued by the Akimat.
