Application requirements for all types of Russian visas
Types of visas
Different categories and types of visas are established by the law. Depending on the purpose of entry of a foreign citizen to the Russian Federation and the purpose of his stay in the country the following categories are differentiated: diplomatic visa, official visa, ordinary visa, transit visa and temporary residence visa.
The varieties of an ordinary visa are private, business, educational, employment, humanitarian visas and visa for the entry into the Russian Federation for the purpose of receiving asylum. On selecting the category of a visa it is necessary to identify the purpose of the trip correctly and it must be remembered that the discrepancy between visa category and the real purpose of the trip can be seen as giving false information about the purpose of the visit, which may give rise to administrative penalties up to the deportation.
Application requirements
To apply visa a foreigner must submit to the Embassy of Russia:
- Passport
- Invitation (in case if it was not sent by telex);
- 3-4 standard passport-size photos;
- A completed application form.
The above requirements are common to all Russian consular offices, along with each consulate may make changes and additions to these requirements without any prior notice.
In most Russian consulates it is required to bring original passport to get visa.
Invitation for which the entry visa can be issued is given exclusively by MFA Consular Service of Russia.
If you plan to visit Moscow it is better not to use invitations provided by regional companies as it can be difficult to register such visa in Moscow Office of the Visas and Registrations.
Children under 16 years do not need to have individual visa if their names are included in the visas and passports of accompanying parents or guardians.
People intending to stay in Russia for more than 90 days must present evidence of the absence of HIV infection valid at the time of delivery (30 days from the date of issuance) to obtain visa.
Private visas are issued only on a single-entry trip to Russia and are valid only at the place of issuance of notification.
Besides single-entry tourist visa, business visa is also issued (single, double and multiple are done in the first place). MFA draws multiple-entry business visas within 21 working days. The names of children are not written in the multiple-entry visa and visas for them must be obtained separately. Accompanying family members can also obtain multiple-entry business visa. Multiple-entry visas for periods from 3 to 12 months are the most convenient for multiple trips to Russia.
Russia transit visa is valid for up to 72 hours and issued to people transiting through Russia to a third country.
Once the visa is obtained on the hands, it is necessary to verify all the data in it in order to avoid mistakes. If you notice a mistake made by the Consulate immediately inform visa inspector. The Consulate is not responsible for the mistakes made by the inviting organization or by the applicant.
