Tour itinerary:

Tbilisi – Haghpat Monastery – Alaverdi – Odzun Church – Tbilisi

At 9:00, meet our driver and guide at your Tbilisi hotel and transfer to the Georgian-Armenian border point, Sadakhlo-Bagratashen. Cross the border and drive to Armenia’s Lori region to visit Haghpat Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is a stunning example of traditional Armenian architecture, erected between the 10th and 13th centuries. Standing on a hillside, it beautifully overlooks the Debed River. The monastery’s location was chosen to protect the peace and seclusion of the monks. The complex consists of several structures, the largest of which is the Cathedral of Surb Nshan with its beautiful fresco depicting Christ Pantocrator. Continue to the small town of Alaverdi and enjoy a traditional Armenian lunch at Flora Restaurant. After lunch, visit Odzun Church. Overlooking a beautiful gorge, this church was built between the 5th and 7th centuries and is one of Armenia’s finest basilicas. In the courtyard, watch a group of local dancers in traditional costumes perform traditional Armenian dances. At around 17:00 depart for Tbilisi, where our driver will drop you off at your hotel. End of the tour.
