One-day Aktau City Tour is a great opportunity to get acquainted with the capital of Mangystau, its architecture, culture and history. In 1956, rich uranium deposits were discovered near the future Aktau, and this was the reason for the construction of the city in a distant lifeless land. The first buildings were erected in 1959, and 5 years later it was already a large city with all the infrastructure. Gradually, uranium mining receded into the background as oil was found in the region. Today, Aktau is considered the unofficial capital of Kazakhstan's oil and gas industry, and for tourists it is the gateway to the mysterious world of Mangystau. Tour itinerary:
Our guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Aktau. You will have intense tour that covers Mangystau Regional Local History Museum, Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mosque Beket-Ata. Visit to the rooftop lighthouse and the MIG-21 aircraft monument. Experience the local culture by visiting local market where you can find traditional crafts, foods, and souvenirs.
Continue to Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko Monument, the Columbus La Santa Maria ship monument. Visit oceanarium at Caspian Riviera Grand Palace with the sturgeon farm there. Enjoy beautiful views of the Caspian Sea coast from the hotel's observation deck. By the end of the tour transfer to Aidyn restaurant with sea view, where you will have a chance to try Fishbarmak from sturgeon, the renowned dish, which can only be tried in Aktau (cost for the lunch is not included).
