This has been reported by YK-news.kz with reference to the City’s Chief Architect Erkin Zhusipov. The Monument under the name of “The Sun and the Moon” is planned to erect on the Kazakhstan Mountain. The sculpture will be represented by a merge of golden sun and silver moon, thereby symbolizing the unity of the peoples of the East. The names of Kazakhstan’s outstanding figures will be carved on the Monument, which owing to its location and special illumination will be seen from any point of the city both by day and at night.
Quite recently, about 4 months ago, a solemn opening of the 10-m high Monument to Kazakh batyr (strong man) Baidibek-biy with his arm open over the city was held in Shymkent. Today, the 9-ton sculpture resembling very much the Christ Statute in Rio-de-Janeiro is the Kazakhstan’s highest monument and one of the main sights of Shymkent city.
