From Baku Central Station, the largest railway junction in Azerbaijan, trains depart in three directions to Georgia, Iran and Russia. Within Azerbaijan, the railway network diverges further into various regions from which many trains to Baku run on a regular basis.
The original station was built in 1880 in the Moorish style, but today this building is outdated and serves more as a tourist attraction. The new Baku station was built in 1977 just to the left of the historical one. In addition to ticket offices, a waiting room and luggage storage, the spacious modern terminal houses recreation areas, a children's playground and various eateries. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building.
Baku Central Station is located in the city center approximately two kilometers from Icheri-Sheher, one kilometer from Baku Embankment and 100 meters from the “28 May” metro station. The airport is 23 kilometers away.
