Any wine has history. The story, where several episodes are intertwined to make a beautiful novel, embodied in a ruby drink in a crystal glass. Georgian wine is not only a story, but myths, legends and sagas.
In this short but rather intensive one-day tour in Kakheti, you will learn about all facets of winemaking: growing and collection of the best sorts of grapes, making special clay vessels for aging of wine, degustation details, preparation of refreshments to Georgian wine and many others. Of course, you will not do without classes on raising the glasses with the most sincere toasts.

Tour itinerary:

Tbilisi – Vardisubani – Telavi – Tsinandali – Napareuli – Tbilisi
At 09:00 you will be met by our driver and guide at your hotel in Tbilisi to start the journey to Kakheti, the cradle of Georgian wine. Beautiful road lies through Gombori pass (2 h, 100 km). We will visit a family in Vardisubani village which make qvevri, Georgian clay vessels for keeping wine at. Continue to Telavi, the administrative and historic center of the region. Have a short walk through charming streets of old Telavi and a photo stop at the monument to Irakli II. Drive to Tsinandali, the residence of dukes of Georgia with beautiful English garden, a museum, and the wine cellar which belonged to prince Chavchavadze, 19th century public figure and poet. You will taste wine there. Final stop for will be at the private winery «Twins Wine Cellar» in Napareuli village. The premises of the winery include vast vineyard, museum of traditional Georgian winemaking in qvevri, and facilities for various workshops. Try yourself at baking Georgian bread puri, cooking national dessert churchkhela, harvesting and squeezing grapes for wine (subject to seasonality). An excellent round-up of the tour will be treating yourself to five different wines produced at Twins Winery according to Georgian traditional winemaking technology in qvevri. Return to Tbilisi.
