A one-day wine tour from Kutaisi will appeal not only to fans of winemaking but also to those who like to get acquainted with the ancient culture of Georgian people. In just a few hours, you will see how natural wine is made according to ancient technologies: how wine is aged in giant qvevri clay jars, under which conditions grapes are grown, how they are harvested, how cellars are arranged, and how to taste Georgian wines correctly. A wine tour in the vicinity of Kutaisi in just one day will give you impressions for a whole month!
Tour itinerary:
Kutaisi – Dimis Perdobi – Baia’s winery – Kutaisi
A wine adventure is ahead of us! We will visit two family wineries in Baghdati district, which follow Imeretian traditions of winemaking using Georgian clay vessels for vinification and storage of wine. At Dimis Perdobi, a natural wine producer, we will learn what makes natural wine producers different from industrial winemakers. White wine Tsolikauri and red wine Otskhanuri Sapere will be offered us for tasting.
We will then continue to village Obcha and visit Baia’s family winery, where all family mambers are busy taking care of vines and wine. A winemaker will offer us a tour in Marani – wine cellar with qvevri. A delicious homemade lunch will await us along with wine tasting run by the winemaker. If we find energy after our wine adventure, we will return to Kutaisi. Otherwise, Baia is happy to offer us accommodation at her wine guesthouse. Return to Kutaisi.
