Museum of the Great Patriotic War
The Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War, established in 1986, is located on a circular area of the Victors. This unique museum was founded on the day of the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War and in the past decade has already become one of the most famous and most visited museums in Moscow. The museum's collection has unique archival documents, weapons and uniforms, captured flags and military equipment. It holds about 50 thousand exhibits related to military history. In the special displays you will find the Memory Books, 385 volumes, which contain the names of people who died in the war. In the museum, among other items, the Banner of Victory, the red flag, hoisted on April 30, 1945 over the Reichstag in Berlin, is kept. Near the museum there is the permanent open-air exhibition of military equipment.
