For a day-tour of something different, try this trip out of Samarkand. The first stop is in the small town of Urgut, where you’ll visit Chor-Chinor, an old garden of sycamore trees (some of which are almost a thousand years old), and a bazaar where you can find antique crafts. Return back to Samarkand to tour the Silk Carpet Factory, where you can learn how carpets are made and even buy one for yourself.
Tour itinerary:
Our guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Samarkand. Depart Samarkand and drive to Chor-Chinor garden (50 km., 1 h.). Visit the garden with old sycamores, the mosque and the spring water. Then drive to Urgut bazaar, local oriental marketplace where you will find items with a very eastern flavor. Although it is open every day. Wednesday and Sunday are the best days to visit the marketplace. Then visit the hereditary ceramist in the 8th generation - Numon Ablakulov. Lunch, acquaintance with the creativity and the process of making ceramic products of the family.
In afternoon return to Samarkand and visit Samarkand Silk Carpet Factory. Watch the process of making the silk carpets, various silk products and visit the factory's local shop. Transfer to the hotel. End of Tour to Urgut and Silk Carpet Factory.
