At the southern gates of the ancient fortress Itchan-Kala, amidst the Khivan residential wattle and daub houses, there stands out a small brick building of the Shakhrozoda Hotel, decorated with majolica. Air conditioners, necessary to protect the guests from Khivan hot climate, and covering the hotel outer walls in great numbers, arrest your attention.
While inside the Hotel itself, there is pleasing semi-darkness. The standard rooms are furnished modestly, but fitted with everything necessary to stay at. The Hotel lobby houses a gift shop where it is possible to find many hand-made souvenirs and items of Khivan craftsmen.
