Location: Haik village, Vaitsdzor Province
This well-loved festival honoring gata will be held on September 21, 2024. Gata is a traditional Armenian dessert that looks a bit like a sweet bun or flatbread, but tastes completely different. The process of making a gata is surprising and unusual, so it is unsurprising that the dessert now has its own festival. The world’s largest gata will be baked at the event, a gata so big that it’s even in the Guiness Book of World Records. Local residents and visitors from surrounding regions host master classes to show why they love their traditional dishes (not only gata, but also arishta, a type of noodle).
All sorts of sweets and products will be available at the Gata Festival, as well as products from local producers and residents. All events include traditional Armenian songs and dances, in which anyone can participate.
If you love sweets and foods and fun times, be sure to come to the Gata Festival!
