Tour to Etchmiadzin, Sardarapat, Zvartnots, and Genocide Museum is a fascinating trip to the well-known sights of Armenia situated only 20 km away from Yerevan. Etchmiadzin and Zvartnots are two temples that were built 1500 years ago and are considered to be one of the most ancient Christian monuments of Armenia. The excursion to these interesting sights will take only half of your day.
Tour itinerary:
Yerevan – Etchmiadzin – Sardarapat – Zvartnots – Yerevan
Meet your guide and driver at your hotel in Yerevan and start the tour by visiting the holy city of Armenia, Etchmiadzin. Visit Etchmiadzin Cathedral* which is the residence of the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church the Catholicos of All Armenians. Visit the churches of St. Gayane, St. Hripsime, St. Shoghakat. Drive to Memorial Ensemble Sardarapat, a pure red tuff construction dedicated to the Battle of Sardarapat in 1918. Return to Yerevan. On the way, visit the ruins of Zvartnots. Reputedly it was the most beautiful cathedral in the world, collapsed in the earthquake of 930. Both Zvartnots and Etchmiadzin are included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.
Continue the tour by visiting Genocide Museum at Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Park. The museum covers the most tragic part of Armenian history, the genocide of 1915. Drop off at the hotel.
