Tetra Cave near Kutaisi
Tetra Cave, also known as Tskaltubo Cave, is a natural monument, located in Tskaltubo Municipality, at an altitude of 140 m above sea level. The interior of the karst cave is white due to the chalk limestone. That is where the name is derived from. Tetri in Georgian means white. The cave is rich in stalactites, stalagmites, and stalagmites.
More than 15,000 artifacts were found in the cave during the archeological excavations, including parts of Paleolithic human skeletons and unique household items. The complex also includes an archeological site where the remains of rare animals were unearthed.
During the Soviet era, the place was used for speleological therapies due to its healing air, treating bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, and hypertension.
The constant temperature in the cave is plus 13-14 degrees, creating an excellent environment for aging wine. During the renovation works, which lasted two years, a storage room was created here. Guests can taste and buy high-class local wines.
The visitors of Tetra Cave can enjoy a cognitive tour of the cave, speleo-healing therapy, and a wine tour. The complex also includes spaces for events, recreation areas, a service center, and a parking lot.
