Tour itinerary:
Day 1: Kutaisi – Rachkha Waterfall – Khvamli Mountain – Lunch at Kulbaki Green Lake – Korenishuli Veranda (150 km, ~ 3.50 h driving)
At 09:00 am meet your guide and driver and head to the unexplored destination in Georgia – Lechkhumi region. First stop and great introduction of the wild untouched beauty of this region is Rachkha Waterfalls, cascading down onto the moss-covered stones of the gorge. Continue to one of the most mysterious places in Georgia – Khvamli Mountain, standing at 2,002 meters above the sea level. According to a legend, Prometheus who stole the fire from the Gods was chained on Khvamli mountain by the order of Zeus and eagle was eating his eternally renewable liver. We will reach St. George's Church on top of the mountain and enjoy breathtaking views. After seeing this mystic place, we will proceed to Kulbaki Green Lake. The line of cars traveling in this direction will be the first thing to catch your eye. Despite the off-road which is difficult to drive, many locals love this place, so you can be confident that something spectacular is waiting for you at Kulbaki. Indeed, while taking in the scenery and tranquility of Green Lake, you may sample some of the region's most tasty fish here. The final destination for today is a wine hotel Korenishuli Veranda in the tiny settlement of Korenishuli. Located at bucolic setting, Krenishuli Veranda combines a hotel and a winery. Enjoy homemade meals and wine while unwinding in front of stunning mountain vineyard views.
Day 2: Korenishuli Veranda – Sairme Pillars – Lunch at Aleko Sardanashvili Wine Cellar – Shaori Lake – Tskhrajvari – Kutaisi (120 km, ~ 2.40 h driving)
After breakfast head to Sairme Pillars, a true wonder of the nature. Over thousands of years, natural processes resulted in the formation of pillars. The route of our moderately difficult 3-km mostly uphill hike is well-marked and will guide us to the pillars. It takes about two to three hours to get to the top to enjoy the breathtaking views of the pillars and then make our way back to the main road. A delicious reward awaits us after our moderately difficult hike at Aleko Sardanashvili’s wine cellar: we will be served a home-made lunch accompanied by wine produced in Aleko’s cellar. We will then head to Shaori Lake, the crystal-clear water and beautiful forest around will make you feel part of untouched nature. Next stop is at Tskhrajvari ("nine crosses)". The crosses are arranged on numerous high summits that look over a wide horizon. In one of the many legends associated with this location, a parent who sent nine children out to battle prayed to God and pledged to build nine crosses on the mountain in exchange for their safe return. All nine of them made it safely home after the war. After visiting the sight, we will continue our route on beautiful Nakerala pass and reach Kutaisi in the evening. Drop off at the hotel. End of 2-day tour to Racha & Lechkhumi from Kutaisi.
