Visa on Arrival
Uzbekistan does not have an embassy in South Africa, and the only way for South African citizens to obtain a visa for Uzbekistan is to contact a local travel agency. After your request, the travel company will submit an application to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan for a letter of invitation.
To do this, you need to provide the following documents:
3x4 photos;
Employment certificate (not required for retirees);
Flight booking to Uzbekistan;
Contact details (residential address and phone number).
Within 5 working days, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan should stamp the application submitted by the travel agency with an entry permit. The travel agency will scan and send you a copy of the stamped application. Upon arrival at the airport in Uzbekistan, you must present the scanned application to the airport officer and pay the visa fee of US$65. You will receive your visa for Uzbekistan on the spot. The tourist visa for Uzbekistan allows you to stay in the country for up to 30 days.
Transit visa
South African citizens have the right to visa-free transit entry to Uzbekistan for up to 5 days (only for air borders). For transit, it is necessary to carry Uzbekistan Airways air tickets to Uzbekistan and from Uzbekistan to a third country.
